More About Brantford, ON Real Estate

The city of Brantford has grown from its modest-town beginnings into a bustling metropolis over the last decade. Situated in the Hamilton, Halton, and Brant region in southwestern Ontario, Brantford stretches for 72 square kilometres (27.97 sq mi) and has around 100,000 people. The city is tucked in Brant County but has a municipal government of its own, which gives it political autonomy. Important neighbouring cities are Kitchener, Waterloo, Hamilton, and Burlington.

Brantford Ontario Real Estate Market

The Brantford real estate market is booming right now. The substantial decrease in new listings and a skyrocketing demand in dwellings have caused prices to keep jumping in the city. December 2021 set a new all-time sales record with the average price of properties reaching a bit over $830K, an increment of 39.6% from the same month in 2020.

Today, the homes for sale in Brantford cost an average of $885K, and they remain listed for about nine days before changing hands. This price point is a bargain if compared with the average housing prices in cities in the GTA and across Ontario.

The housing stock in the area is also highly desirable and mostly long-established. A third of Brantford’s available dwellings were built before the ‘60s and a large part of the remaining buildings were constructed between the ‘60s and ‘80s. However, there’s a healthy mix of property types and styles suitable for any homebuyer’s lifestyle needs. No wonder around 70% of Brantford residents are homeowners.

The eastern part of the city has some freestanding homes but mainly comprises townhomes and condos for sale, most of them on low-rise buildings and close to Downtown Brantford. On the other hand, western Brantford homes for sale are larger and more comfortable. Buyers can put their offer for sizable bungalows, traditional 3-bedroom single-family detached homes, and even mansions in generous lots located on the city’s edge. This last option is great for larger families or affluent individuals craving a more private, country-side living.

The growing interest in the Brantford real estate market has been bolstered by an increase in real estate investments, the development of a downtown revitalization plan, and boundary expansion. If the current market trends remain in place, the real estate sector in the city will experience similar conditions throughout 2022.

Brantford Average Home Prices

  • Average Home Price: $885K
  • Average Detached House Price: $887K
  • Average Townhouse Price: $405K
  • Average Condo Price: $272K

  9. Elberta Farms Country Market – This small market is one of Brantford’s best destinations for fresh produce. A variety of high-quality fruits and vegetables, herbs and spices, organic eggs, preserves, apple cider, baked goods, flower bouquets, cheeses, seasonal products, and more are available at reasonable prices here. Bring the kiddos to check out goats, chickens, ducks, and geese at their cute farm animal section.
  10. Harmony Square – This lovely little nook in downtown Brantford is perfect if you feel like picking up a bite to eat from one of the nearby restaurants or simply unwind and sip a cup of coffee in good company. Harmony Square’s perimeter is filled with benches, a small stage for concerts and performances, and a summer splash pad that turns into a busy skating rink during winter.
