This Manitoba destination boasts a world-class waterpark with a wave pool, an arena with public skating, golf courses, parks, picnic areas, and camping facilities. There are also plenty of activities for children, including mini-golfing, playgrounds, and climbing walls.
  2. Fort la Reine Museum
    • Discover Manitoba’s past when you step into the Fort La Reine Museum. This heritage site houses a fully restored railcar from Canada’s first coast-to-coast railroad. It has artifacts ranging from buffalo hide robes to dining cars used by Canadian Pacific Railway staff in the 1970s.
  3. Splash Island Water Park
    • Splash Island Waterpark is a 57-acre water park that’s fun for the whole family. The park has seven waterslides, two wave pools, and an interactive water play area, so there are plenty of ways to have fun. The park also has a kiddie pool for smaller children who need some time away from the waves and strong, challenging currents. .
  4. William Glesby Centre
    • This community centre has an indoor arena with public skating and special events, such as dances and concerts. The facility also offers hockey leagues for all ages, including a female invitational league that runs on Friday nights. In addition to ice time, the WGC features a gymnasium with volleyball nets, a walking track, and other activities throughout the year.
  5. Stride Place 
    • Stride Place (formerly Portage Credit Union Arena) is a great place to see a hockey game or catch some special events held regularly at the facility.   6. Mayfair Farm
    • Mayfair Farm is a unique destination for families in Portage la Prairie.   7. World’s Largest Coca-Cola Can
    • Great for kids, the World’s Largest Coca-Cola Can has an admission fee of $2.50 per person – with all proceeds going to support the Portage Credit Union Christmas Fund. You can walk inside this larger-than-life-sized replica or take your picture beside it.
  8. Arboretum
    • The Arboretum Gardens is another place where you can spend time as a family learning about Manitoba’s natural environment.   2. Grand Beach Provincial Park 
    • This park has a wide range of fun activities, including swimming in Grand Beach Lake with sandbars and shallow waters for young children. You can also bike or boat on the lake when you visit this beach town. If you like to camp, then Grand Beach Provincial Park is the place for you. This park has a wide range of amenities that make your trip more enjoyable, including a grocery store, so you can stock up on food. Grand Beach also offers fishing, swimming, and horseback riding on-site!
  3. Lake Manitoba Narrows 
    • Lake Manitoba is the third-largest lake in North America, extending over 2,300 square kilometres and reaching depths of up to 141 metres. This beautiful lake is only about 73 km from Portage la Prairie. It’s a fantastic spot for fishing or kayaking, as well as bird watching along its many islands. You can explore the lake by charter boat or rent your own vessel at one of the marinas around Portage la Prairie.
  4. Assiniboine Forest 
    • Assiniboine Forest is a good place to go for those who love the outdoors and want to get some nature time before or after work. The forest has 35 kilometres of hiking trails, so you can spend the day outside enjoying nature and taking in Manitoba’s beautiful surroundings.
