More About Thorncliffe Park Real Estate

The Don River borders Thorncliffe Park to the south and east, Millwood Road to the west, Research Road and Wicksteed Avenue to the north, and a railway track to the northwest. The neighbourhood was once a farm owned by the founder of the Dominion Brewing Company, Robert T. Davies, who enjoyed participating in horse racing. After his death in 1916, a group of investors bought the farm and built the Thorncliffe Park Raceway track.

The track eventually closed, and in the 1950s, developers demolished the track and constructed one of the first high-rise neighbourhoods in Toronto. It was important to the developers to keep commercial and residential properties separate from one another, and they assumed everyone had a car. Over time, low-rise buildings were built in clusters, filling in the gaps, while the high-rise buildings continued to go up around the outer edge of the neighbourhood. Today, it’s common to find people walking to and from the store when the weather is nice since they’re in such close proximity to shops.

Thorncliffe Park is one of the best neighbourhoods to buy real estate in Toronto. What makes Thorncliffe Park attractive to Canadian newcomers is the convenience of amenities and what this neighbourhood has to offer. Not only are shops and businesses within close proximity, but Thorncliffe Park is also prepared to serve residents getting settled in their new country. Located inside the Thorncliffe Park Plaza is a neighbourhood office that acts as a resource centre, providing multilingual recreational and social programs, as well as services for the community members.
